It’s soap nice to meet you!

Testing? Testing? 1, 2, 3?

Welcome to Foam-o, and especially welcome to Foam-o’s first blog post!

My name is Robyn, and I will be your blog and website admin for the foreseeable, I’ve had a lot of fun questions from friends over the last few months about what in the world I’m doing – they’ve ranged from ‘So, is it fudge or just soap?’ to ‘I’m assuming this is a solely cold process soap business?’ proving that people definitely have differing levels of knowledge about soap.

This is why blog post numero uno is going to be a quick run through/sales pitch of me, Foam-o and being as ethical as you could imagine.

My dad is actually the real brains behind wanting to do soap (I wish I could say it was me!), because his grandma was, apparently, always making it – it does feel really good to be following in some kind of crazy soapy line though!

One of the reasons we wanted to make soap was also because we could use bi-products from our farm. We live on a farm in Northumberland (that’s on the East of England, on the Scottish Border for all you people who seem to think the North of England is just Yorkshire then Scotland), and it’s always been my absolute haven.

I would rarely tell my parents, but being grounded never did feel like a punishment!

Having the outdoor space and random sheds on this farm is how I am managing to make my soap without ruining my mum’s farm kitchen – that wouldn’t be an option anyway, since there are 2 rescue cats and 2 mad vizsla dogs rushing about 24/7 regardless! So, Foam-o is using space that we already had, and uses all ethical products – although, not just your typical ethical products, since we even sourced all our ‘soapy stuff’ from UK businesses.

At this point, it’s definitely a shout out to Richard the website man, Dylan the graphics man, Rachel & Mark the photographers, Jackie the lady with the wax seals, and Jamie-Leigh who made all my labels. They’re all small businesses, and most of them in this county!!

If you’re looking for an ethically produced, homecut, farmhouse packed, vegan, cruelty free and all the rest soap, then really look no further – we’ve got it all, and I love being part of it.
